aZengear Products Achieve Carbon Neutral Certification by Climate Partner
by Emily Jannet on Apr 10, 2023
London, UK - aZengear are proud to announce that our products are now certified as carbon neutral by Climate Partner. This certification reflects our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and working towards a more sustainable future.
To achieve carbon neutrality, aZengear worked with Climate Partner to measure the carbon emissions associated with our products' entire lifecycle, from production to disposal. This process included analysing our energy usage, transportation, and waste generation. The emissions were then offset by investing in renewable energy and carbon reduction project in Tuppadahalli, India.
Wind Energy In Tuppadahalli, India
Located in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, the project consists of several small wind farms in the districts of Shimoga and Chitradurga. These farms generate clean electricity with a total of 34 turbines and a capacity of 56 MW, which is fed into the Indian grid. By utilising low-emission technology, the project contributes to reducing greenhouse gases while also securing the energy supply in regions that previously had no constant access to electricity.
In addition to its positive impact on the environment, the project also supports local development through the SWABALAMABAN programme. This program provides vocational training for unemployed youth from local villages in activities such as electrical wiring, tailoring, agricultural activities, and driving lessons. With education programs and the establishment of job opportunities for the local population, the project contributes to the sustainable development of the region.
This project aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of the certification process, Climate Partner verified the carbon offsetting projects to ensure they meet strict environmental and social standards. Our climate partner IDs, 23459-2304-1001 and 23459-2308-1001, can be used to track the offsetting projects' progress and impact.
"We're thrilled to have achieved carbon neutral certification by Climate Partner," said aZengear's Sustainability Manager. "As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe it's essential to take concrete steps towards reducing our environmental impact. We're committed to continuing our sustainability efforts and working towards a more sustainable future for all."
What Does One Tonne of CO2 Look Like?
For instance, if your Corporate Carbon Footprint from last year was 300 tons of CO2, how significant is that? It's difficult for most people to comprehend the true implications of this number. However, it might be easier to understand if we put it into perspective. For instance, driving more than 900,000 kilometres by car or washing your clothes 322,000 times at 60 degrees Celsius generates the same amount of CO2 emissions. To help you visualise this better, this carbon comparison calculator offers more examples like these.
