I like to always have a fire starter in my backpack in case any emergencies arise and this is a good value option that sparks well once the base layer is worn off. On this base layer, it will make a mess when first used but this shouldn't be a problem if used outside.I like that it comes with a carry bag to prevent your other items getting messy and the general quality seems good for the price. I have used other fire starters that work quicker out the box, but for the price there is little to complain about here.Recommended overall.

This is a great tool for campers. While matches can get damp, or run out, this works every time.If you have a camper in your life they'll love the traditional way of starting fires or lighting stoves, and this does the job perfectly. Each strike gives you a good amount of spark.It's lightweight and has a good cord to secure it to a backpack or - for comfort campers with stoves etc - to the stove cover so it won't get lost.Ideal - can find no fault with it so 5 stars it is!

This is nice nifty little item for any camping or adventurous person. Just took me a few strike on the flint and the fire was lit. Not too heavy and comes both attached with a lead so they're never a part.

If you are used to using these things, it's simply a case of unpack and off you go (within legal limits, of course). It's easy to use, produces decent sparks and apparently will last a really long time, so very handy to have in your backpack on your next adventure. The paracord is handy and it's very compact and easy to pack away when not in use.That said, if you've never had one of these before, you will be completely dumbfounded as to how they work - this really shouldn't be the case with products like this, especially if you haven't the first clue how to use it and accidentally do it right onto something flammable that you don't want to set fire to. I know this is supremely unlikely and most people will have checked out what to do before buying one, but would it hurt to include just a little something to let newbies know how to use it? And use it safely? Makes sense to me.I'm no prepper or illegal firemaker, but I am familiar with these sorts of products and that's fine - but I was still quite surprised not to see even a couple of pictures on a slip of paper or a warning or anything enclosed with this firestarter.Still, it does the job and is better than hauling matches and lighters about. And miles quicker than waiting for a sunny day and having a magnifying glass to slowly burn stuff (misspent childhood coming out there). And even faster than rubbing two sticks together, thinking you're Bear Grylls. And even if you are Bear Grylls, just buy one of these and stop faffing about.

This is one of those things that would be in your top 10 list if you found yourself marooned or lost in the wilderness, as you basically have fire in your pocket.It's super effective at producing a shower of sparks if scraped the correct way... You just need kindling and you are good to go.I'll be using it instead to light the cooker... At least until the zombies attack.

Great little took to carry around. It's compact and can slip away in any bag pocket. Has the ferro rod and striker attached with a robust cord. Works great straight out the pack.Great price and this seems like it will last
